Preschool Teacher, EWA – Mitsui Gardens International Preschool

The Employees’ Welfare Association (EWA) of the U.S. Embassy Tokyo is seeking an individual for the position of Preschool Teacher at the U.S. Embassy Housing Compound in Akasaka Minato Ward Tokyo

WORK HOURS:   40 hours/week or Less

Wage for Assistant Teacher: 1,500 yen or more depending on the qualification   

Salary for Head Teacher: 275,010 yen monthly or more depending on the qualification

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

  1. Education:  Degree/Certificate in Early Childhood Education is preferred. Work experience may substitute for formal education.
  2. Child/Adult CPR and First Aid Certification: Required prior to work start.
  3. Prior Work Experience:  Experience in a preschool or child care capacity is a plus.
  4. Language Proficiency:  Native English level speaker/writer.
  5. Knowledge:  Must relate well to children, be warm, friendly and nurturing, and have basic knowledge of current best practices and developmentally appropriate curriculum for preschoolers.
  6. Skills and Abilities:  Ability to communicate with staff, children and parents with a professional attitude.  Must be able to manage small groups of children in a positive manner.

  2. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.

Position Vacancy: Fleet Assistant (Part- Time / EWA)

The Employees Welfare Association (EWA) of the U.S. Embassy Tokyo is seeking an individual for the position of Fleet Assistant.

EWA is seeking:

A licensed driver to work under the Fleet Manager providing support to operate a school bus program, community tours, and overall EWA support including loading and unloading different types of cargo. Must be in good physical condition, a good driving record, and able to obtain/ maintain currency of all licenses required to perform duties assigned.

  1. Education:  Completion of secondary school education is required.
  2. Prior Work Experience:  Two years experience driving buses and large vehicles required.
  3. Language Proficiency:  Good working knowledge of Japanese and/or English.
  4. Knowledge:  Basic familiarization of the Tokyo area preferred.
  5. Skills and Abilities:  Current Japan issued driver license with authorization to operate a vehicle carrying up to 19 passengers required; up to 30 passengers preferred.

BASIC FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:

EWA is a private organization of employees of the U.S. Embassy Tokyo. Incumbent will primarily assist the Store Supervisor with duties/responsibilities within the EWA Store. Duties include, but not limited to, clerical functions, computer data entry, cashier, stocking, customer service, and cleaning.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  1. Education: Completion of Secondary School required
  2. Prior Work Experience: No work experience required
  3. Language Proficiency: A clear understanding and ability to speak, read, and write English required.
  4. Skills: Operate a cash register. Simple math and attention to detail, quick learner, and excellent customer service skills a must.
  5. Abilities:
    1. Able to lift up to 40 pounds
